Farm Call- Crop Planning with Product Value Review Report and Curtis Millsap
Product Planner Report with Pablo
How this report works:
It starts by calculating the average amount of an item that was received per member, per week. Supposing that 1000 bags of apples were distributed to members over the course of 10 weeks, and on average there were 75 members in those 10 weeks, then the Average Acceptance Per Member Per Week is 1000 / 10 / 75 = 1.33. In other words, members each received 1.33 bags of apples on average in the 10 weeks.
If we extrapolate that number over a forecast of how many members we expect to be providing for, in each week of an upcoming season (this forecast being based off of current signups, prior year's expectations and growth goals, marketing efforts, etc), then we can get an average prediction of the bags of apples needed.
- Week 1: 100 members | 133 bags of apples
- Week 2: 110 members | ~146 bags of apples
- Week 3: 120 members | ~160 bags of apples
This can be a good starting point to work from, though of course a lot of additional wisdom and factors can weigh in as Curtis illustrates; I think that this can be especially helpful when the number of members you are providing for is not a static number from week to week or over the course of a season. It may be a good complement to the Product Value Report.
Want to run some numbers for yourself?
We have a simple way to generate these stats and spreadsheets for your farm, if you want to request them from your account manager, let them know the relevant date range for the stat calculations and that you're looking for the Product Planner excel sheet or just the stats from it. In the video we briefly discuss an expanded version of the report that has some sheets for tracking sourcing from other producers, if that interests you, make sure to note that you want it with the Vendor addition and how many vendor sheets you would like.
