The Harvie Farms Local concept is based on Harvie's ongoing market research on the best way to run a local food subscription program. You can adopt some or all of these practices on your farm!
The components of the 'Harvie Farms Local' model:
- Grocery product line- vegetables, meats, dairy, dry goods etc. (think farmers market in a box)
- All products are built into the delivery as swappable items
- Box prices set higher to accommodate grocery experience
- Pay as you go model (pay x=1)
- Yearlong distribution

Partnering with other farms and local producers takes a lot of logistics and planning but can be extremely profitable for your organization.
Case Study
Robinette Farms has run a CSA for >10 years. In the last couple years they have begun to shift their thinking towards the Harvie Farms Local model. In the farm call below, Chloe talks through mindset change, logistics, marketing, and challenges as they work to build a more regional food system.
